DC Electrical System

Perform scheduled tests and inspections in the field on substation storage battery DC systems. As a minimum the following tests and inspections will be performed on each designated substation battery system: Inspect battery bank for physical damage and signs of corrosion.
  • Check intercell bus link connections. Clean and lubricate as required.
  • Measure and record bank charging voltage and individual cell voltages. Compare measured values to manufacturers' specifications.
  • Measure and record charger float and equalize voltage settings. Compare measured values to manufacturers' specifications.
  • Measure and record individual cell impedance with battery impedance test set. Compare measured values to new cell specifications.
  • Measure and record charger float and equalize voltage settings. Compare measured values to manufacturers' specifications.
